Last Drop
Collection of Janja Prokić, Last Drop puts into contrast the values of solid, stable and long-lasting relationships and those of consumerism, haste and imbalance. The motif of the last drop is materialized in ceramic objects and jewellery.
“I created ceramic vessels as the principal part of this collection. They’re made of terracotta because they’re lasting, solid and bear the meaning of earthiness and grouding in contrast to porcelain, which evokes consumerist reproduction,” Janja comments on her work. “Last Drop is based on three main motifs - three vessels which have three totally different fates after being filled with the last drop. For the last drop doesn’t necessarily have to mean the absolute end,” she adds.
Baroque cloud symbolises the universe. When it fills up, it bursts, pours itself out and begins to fill itself again until the last drop, over and over, endlessly.
Goleden egg has been interpreted worldwide, across various religions almost identically, as the beginning of the world. If an egg, which contains a foetus, cracks, a baby is born, or its contents leak out. The egg itself cannot fulfill the role of a protective case.
Sacred heart is evidence of the holy child. The heart is a container everyone possesses. When the last drop arrives, it ruptures. This does not have to be the end. However, it will remain the same even after healing. There will be a visible scar.

Each of the wheel-made and modelled vessels, vases and jars is a unique original of a different size, weight and thickness. It also has a different critical point which emerges with the last drop. They are all laid freely on a tripod and when filled up, their centre shifts and they fall easily. Therefore, the owner must handle the flowers which he or she puts in a deliberately deflected aperture and water cautiously, mindfully and with composure. There are small holes in the vases with clouds through which excessive water spills. It may well drench the furniture and floor. So, careful! There is a small hole hidden in the bottom of another of the vases. Therefore, the owner has to attend to the amount of water left for the flower and control that it does not spill from the small cup under the vase so as not to damage a favourite table. “They are vessels which require a lot of care. They desire to be touched by their owners. One can establish a relationship through these features and acknowledge responsibility for them. When the vessel eventually breaks, one will mind. One will know that there is not one like it anywhere else.

A strange one for me…
Your head in my delicate fingers,
Is like a golden egg.
Through your heavy pulse I feel

The cloud floating above us for centuries,
Is waiting for the last drop.
It is falling on our heads,
Shattering our bodies and souls.
A familiar shape changing into new and strange worlds.
I am not sure yet if any of them is mine.
